International Conference (30.07.2001  - 3.08.2001 )

Previously, the Institute of Cytology and Genetics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, have organized two conferences on application of near-isogenic and alloplasmic lines in plant genetics and breeding. A large volume of scientific information has been accumulated during these years as well as a set of new problems in the field of methodology of applying genetic collections; principles of their forming; storing and utilizing the genetic and breeding information. This demands a new meeting of the researchers interested in work with plant genetic collections. After dissolution of the Soviet Union, it is the first international conference on this topic, organized by the Institute of Cytology and Genetics. The following problems will be discussed:

  1. Maintenance of genetic collections (in crops and tissue cultures; seed storage), their reproduction, nomenclature, and principles of forming;
  2. Databases (information storage, processing, and transfer);
  3. Near-isogenic and substitution lines: their application in gene molecular mapping and study of marker phenotypic manifestations. Applying multiple markers in genetic analysis; and
  4. Alloplasmic lines: plasmon-genome interactions, CMS, and their applying in phylogenetic and systematic researches.
  5.
