Pharmacological information bases of the third generation 


Computer system GeneExpress 2 provides an access to the information resources worked out at the Institute of Cytology and genetics, SB RAS and meant for solving topical tasks of molecular biology and genetics, gene engineering, also for working out medical-biological and biotechnological supplements, training specialists in modern biology and bioinformatics.
Brand-new trends in the field of information and program resources related to regulation of gene expression, spatial structures and functions of biological macromolecules (DNA, RNA, proteins) are constantly traced. Information system GeneExpress 2 has been realised based on modern Internet-integration technologies and navigation over integrated resources. The structure of GeneExpress 2 provides a big information volume and supplies a user with necessary supportive means as a developed system of interactive assistance, comments and samples of demonstration. More than 40 databases and over 20 program packages are integrated in GeneExpress 2. Each of packages contains up to several dozens of programs for identification and analysing functional elements of biological macromolecules and fundamental molecular-genetic processes. System GeneExpress2 is organised considering the natural hierarchical levels of molecular-genetic systems of organisms and has 4 big sections: (1) "DNA Level", (2) "RNA Level", (3) "Protein Level", (4) "GeneNet Level".
GeneExpress2 belongs to the class of super-big information resources in bioinformatics and is unique having no analogues world wide. There are no analogues of system GeneExpress 2 as a whole and even its constitutive blocks abroad.

Technical-Economic Advantages

System GeneExpress 2 has a huge variety of computer resources: particularly, databases on gene and genomic sequences and mechanisms of their regulation, RNA structural organisation, primary and spatial protein structures, ways of transmitting signals and genenets controlling biochemical, physiological processes, growth and development of organisms, also programs for analysing genomic DNA of various functional specificity, gene identification and predicting their functions, estimate of mutational effect on the function of gene regulatory areas, analysing and modelling the structural-functional organisation of RNA and proteins, their molecular interactions, investigating the effect of mutations on the structure and function of DNA, RNA and proteins, programs for analysing and modelling genenets and metabolic processes. 
The above-mentioned resources provide significance and preciseness in solving tasks of bioinformatics considerably exceeding the modern level.
